In his speech at the graduation ceremony for the GPR School of Nursing, Mayor Patrick Burghardt—who also serves as chairman of the supervisory board of the GPR Health and Nursing Center in Rüsselsheim— the newly licensed nursing professionals on successfully passing their exams and praised the quality of their training. He emphasized that the future of the healthcare system begins with dedicated young professionals like them. The three-year generalist training program had provided them with a broad foundation of professional knowledge, empathy, and a sense of responsibility, and the graduates had reached an important milestone despite all the challenges. Patrick Burghardt described the exam as the beginning of a new chapter in their lives and encouraged the graduates to actively shape their own futures—as well as the future of nursing—with curiosity and enthusiasm.
In his address, Stefan Keller, deputy managing director of the GPR, commended the graduates for successfully completing their generalist nursing training and emphasized that by choosing a career in nursing, they had not only completed a training program but had also taken on a responsible and, from a human perspective, particularly important role. Nursing means far more than applying medical knowledge—it requires empathy, strength, patience, and the ability to provide support and reassurance to people in difficult situations. Keller also emphasized that the graduates, with the knowledge they have acquired, are urgently needed, and that the GPR intends to offer them a wide range of professional development and support opportunities even after they graduate. He was particularly pleased that the graduates had remained loyal to the GPR and had decided to continue their professional careers with the company.
Dr. Gerd Albuszies, Medical Director of the GPR Clinic, also addressed the graduates in his speech. He emphasized the central role of nurses in the interdisciplinary team and encouraged the newly licensed nurses to always act in the best interests of the patients, fostering a spirit of trust-based collaboration between physicians and nurses.
Eva Maypoush from the Nursing Administration department praised the graduates’ dedication and emphasized that over the past few years, they had not only acquired knowledge but, above all, learned how important humanity, respect, and teamwork are. She urged her new colleagues to remain courageous, to continue asking questions, to keep developing their skills, and, above all, to maintain their passion for their profession.
After a well-deserved break, all eight successful graduates will seamlessly transition into their daily work at the GPR Klinikum on October 1 and join the team at the GPR Health and Nursing Center in Rüsselsheim.
