Two Cancer Centers at the Women's Clinic at GPR Klinikum in Rüsselsheim Have Been Certified

The GPR Health and Care Center in Rüsselsheim am Main continues to uphold the highest standards in patient care and has yet another reason to celebrate. At the GPR Clinic’s Women’s Clinic, under the direction of Chief Medical Officer Professor Dr. Eric Steiner, both the Breast Cancer Center and the Gynecologic Cancer Center have now been successfully recertified by the independent certification institute of the German Cancer Society (OnkoZert) in accordance with the guidelines of the German Cancer Society (DKG) (DKG). This means that both centers meet the DKG’s high quality standards and offer patients with breast cancer or gynecological cancers high-quality treatment in accordance with clinical guidelines.

Certification is granted every three years. To obtain certification, the centers must meet various criteria, including a minimum number of primary cases per year, an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, psycho-oncologists, and social workers; a structured treatment plan that complies with current guidelines; and a quality management system for the continuous improvement of treatment.

“I am extremely pleased that the independent experts at OnkoZert have confirmed our high quality standards at the Breast Cancer Center and the Gynecologic Cancer Center at GPR Klinikum. We are proud that our centers enable us to make an important contribution to the care of female cancer patients in the region. These certifications underscore our ongoing efforts to ensure first-class medical care and excellent support for our patients,” states Prof. Steiner.

This makes the GPR Clinic home to one of a total of 298 certified breast cancer centers and one of 181 certified gynecologic cancer centers in Germany (as of 2025). Throughout southern Hesse, the GPR Clinic is thus one of only two certified centers for comprehensive oncological care in gynecology.

The GPR Klinikum’s Breast Cancer Center offers patients a comprehensive treatment plan that takes all aspects of the disease into account. This includes surgical therapy, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and psycho-oncology. The Gynecologic Cancer Center at the GPR Clinic specializes in the treatment of gynecologic cancers such as cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, and cancers of the external genitalia. The center offers patients an interdisciplinary treatment plan that takes their individual needs into account. The two cancer centers at the GPR Clinic are an important point of contact for patients with breast and gynecological cancers from the Rhine-Main region.

Achim Neyer, Managing Director of the GPR Health and Care Center in Rüsselsheim, congratulates the team at the Women’s Clinic and all other participants from various disciplines on the successful certifications: “The certifications from the DKG are an important mark of quality for patients with cancer. Both certifications are a major success and proof of high-quality patient care within modern, interdisciplinary structures. These certifications are yet another mark of excellence for the GPR Clinic and the center’s staff. They demonstrate that patients are in the best of hands with us.”
